When I graduated my masters in piano after 17 years in music schools, I thought writing music had to be complicated.
The more advanced and intricate the better.
It took me years to realise (and accept to my proud jazz pianist self...) that "Bb13 b9 b5" doesn't necessarily sound more beautiful than "D minor".

Because the song is carried by our singing, and the story of our words.
Not by how impressive the piano playing is.
